A BILL IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

To amend Title 47 of the District of Columbia Code to increase the amount of the arena fee to be remitted on June 15, 2001, so that any remaining obligation is paid off, and to repeal the arena fee beginning in fiscal year 2002.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this act may be cited as the "Arena Fee Rate Adjustment and Elimination Act of 2001".

Sec. 2. Subsection 47-2752(b) of Title 47 is amended to read as follows: "(b) The amount of the fee to be remitted on or before June 15, 2001, shall be computed according to the following schedule:

"(1) Each feepayer with annual District gross receipts of $2,000,000 to $3,000,000 shall pay $1,000 $1,300;
"(2) Each feepayer with annual District gross receipts of $3,000,001 to $10,000,000 shall pay $3,300 $4,325;
"(3) Each feepayer with annual District gross receipts of $10,000,001 to $15,000,000 shall pay $6,500 $8,500;
"(4) Each feepayer with annual District gross receipts over $15,000,000 shall pay $11,000 $14,250.".

Sec. 3. Subchapter 27A of Title 47 is repealed for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2001, and each fiscal year thereafter.

Sec. 4. Fiscal impact statement.

The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement in the Committee Report as the fiscal impact statement required by section 602(c)(3) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved December 24, 1973 (87 Stat. 813; D.C. Code § 1-233(c)(3)).

Sec. 5. Effective date.

This act shall take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of veto by the Mayor, action by the Council to override the veto), approval by the Financial Responsibility and Management Assistance Authority as provided in section 203(a) of the District of Columbia Financial Responsibility and Management Assistance Act of 1995, approved April 17, 1995 (109 Stat. 116; D.C. Code § 47-392.3(a)), a 30-day period of Congressional review as provided in section 602(c)(1) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved December 24, 1973 (87 Stat. 831; D.C. Code § 1-233(c)(1)), and publication in the District of Columbia Register.
