GOVERNMENT OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Office of the Director

JUL 1 1998

The Honorable Charlene Drew Jarvis
Chairperson Committee on Economic Development
Council of the District of Columbia
441 Fourth Street, N.W., Room 708
Washington, D. C. 20001

Dear Chairperson Jarvis:

Enclosed are copies of a proposed emergency declaration and a proposed emergency approval resolution, which the Mayor will submit for consideration by the Council of the District of Columbia, to approve a public offering document to dispose of Parcels 15, 24, 26, 27, 29 and 38 in the 14th Street Urban Renewal Area.

I am requesting your assistance, as Chair of the Committee on Economic Development, in moving this emergency legislation at the next regularly scheduled Legislative Session, on July 7, 1998. We would appreciate your office circulating a Notice of Intent to Move Emergency Legislation, by no later than 12:00 noon on Thursday, July 2, 1998.

For your information, it is our understanding that Councilmember Smith, Ward One Representative, has indicated that he wants to hold an abbreviated hearing on the public offering document prior to consideration of the requested emergency action.

I respectfully request your assistance and support for expedited Council approval of the proposed emergency declaration and emergency resolution. If you have any questions, please contact me (535-1970).

Sincerely,

Richard Monteilh
Director
