Carol J. Mitten brings 20 years of experience in real estate appraisal and valuation to the District of Columbia. She joins the Office of Property Management from Mitten & Reynolds, Inc., where she was a Principal for 1 I years and a Staff Appraiser for 9 years (at Reynolds & Reynolds, Inc.). In this role, Ms. Mitten has done all levels of commercial real estate appraisal, from data gathering to valuation analysis; valuing diverse property types, such as hotels, office buildings, mixed-use, shopping centers, large estates, and special purpose facilities; and appraisal of fee simple, leasehold, leased fee, and partial interests.
Throughout her career, Ms. Mitten has taught real estate courses across the mid-Atlantic region, including Appraising Historic Properties; Hotel/Motel Valuation; Principles and Practices of Appraisal; Economics of Historic Preservation; and Eminent Domain Issues in Metropolitan Washington, DC. She has also served as a qualified expert witness in the District of Columbia, the Eastern District of Virginia, and District of Maryland. She is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
Ms. Mitten has been active in the local real estate community for the past decade. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Washington, D.C. Metro Chapter of the Appraisal Institute; chaired the District of Columbia Zoning Commission; was President and a board member of the Washington, D.C. Association of Realtors; and was a member of The Committee of 100 on the Federal City.
Ms. Mitten holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in English from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. She also attended the United States Navel Academy.
