For Immediate Release: Contact: Doxie A. McCoy Mayor-Elect Gray Names Two Officials With Track Records of Top-Notch Management Skills to Lead His AdministrationWashington, DC – Calling them outstanding and seasoned managers prepared to carry out his “One City” vision, District of Columbia Mayor-Elect Vince Gray today announced the appointments of Allen Y. Lew as City Administrator and Gerri Mason Hall as his Chief of Staff in the Gray Administration. They are the first in a series of announcements of key appointments Gray will make as he transitions from the Office of Council Chairman to the Office of the Mayor. Lew and Hall emerged from a pool of highly qualified candidates Gray considered for his top posts. Lew has served as Executive Director of the District of Columbia Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization (OPEFM) since 2007. Under his leadership, OPEFM orchestrated more than $1 billion in construction and renovation projects in the District of Columbia Public Schools and dramatically improved numerous government facilities. “Not enough credit goes to Mr. Lew and his staff for their crucial role in improving public education since school reform, by creating sparkling new, safe, and healthy learning environments our children have long-needed and deserved,” Gray said. Lew, a Ward 6 resident, also managed the development and construction of the Washington Nationals Baseball Stadium and the Washington Convention Center. As City Administrator, Lew will manage the day-to-day operations of all city departments, agencies, and staff. Hall, in the role of Chief of Staff, will join Lew in carrying out the Mayor’s goals, objectives, policies, and initiatives for the successful operation of the government. She will manage the day-to-day operations of the Executive Office of the Mayor and will supervise all staff assigned to the unit. Currently, Hall is Senior Vice President of Human Resources for the Corporate Services Division of Sodexo, North America. She has been with the food and facilities management corporation since 2006. A Ward 4 resident and native Washingtonian, Hall received a number of appointments in both the District and federal governments. They include Counsel to the Deputy Director of the Office of Personnel Management in the Clinton Administration, and Deputy Director of the D.C. Office of Personnel. Gray said Gerri Mason Hall’s background reflects an outstanding personnel and staff manager whose expertise in the private sector can very easily be transferred to the District of Columbia government. “In Hall and Lew, I have chosen two very talented professionals to serve as the cornerstone of my administration. Both have exhibited excellent people skills and high ethical standards throughout their careers. They are team players, value diversity and share my vision of making the District of Columbia the greatest city in the world. I am anxious for them to join me on our journey to create One City!” Head shots and full bios are available upon request. |
