My position on Mayor William’s proposed “National Capitol Medical Center” is that the DC City Council should not bypass the “CON” in the first hand.

Secondly and most importantly, I believe that the District would be better off if Howard University Hospital close its doors and move into the old DC General Hospital, renovate and operate from there as the cost to the taxpayers now and in the future would be far less than building a new hospital.

If Howard University Hospital feels all that much compassion for our residents on the other side of town then let it put its mouth and money into action and close its doors and move since it subscribes to the argument that there are enough hospitals on the NW side of the District.

In 2004, I had an operation at Howard University Hospital for an abdominal hernia and I was rolled into the wrong operating room and if I had not recognized that the surgeon was not my doctor, I could have come out as Shirley!

If Howard University Hospital would move to Hong Kong it still wouldn’t be far enough away for me.
