Councilmember Kwame Brown today announced his endorsement of Linda Cropp, Chairman of the Council of the District of Columbia, as the next mayor of the District of Columbia. He will be act as co-chair of the campaign committee.
“Linda Cropp is the leader we need to make sure everyone benefits from the progress we have made,” said Councilmember Brown. “She has a vision for the future that keeps the City moving forward and she has the competence to make it happen. I’m excited about it. I know she shares my priorities to fix the schools and provide opportunities for local, small businesses to participate in the City’s economic growth.”
Kwame Brown was elected to the Council last November, defeating long time incumbent Harold Brazil.
“I am very pleased to announce that Councilmember Brown will be a co-chair of my campaign,” said Chairman Cropp. Councilmember Brown already has proven to be an able legislator with a strong constituent services program. His endorsement shows that my vision for the future embraces every resident so we can continue and expand the positive change we have begun.”
Councilmember Brown will focus on youth outreach.
Chairman Cropp is a candidate for the Democratic Party nomination for Mayor. The Democratic Party primary election date is September 12, 2006.
