DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA DEMOCRATIC STATE COMMITTEE
DC Democratic State Committee Issues Statement On Mayoral Recall EffortsWashington, DC—A. Scott Bolden, Chair of the District of Columbia Democratic State Committee (DCDSC) issues the following statement regarding the Mayoral recall efforts in the District of Columbia: “The DCDSC officially opposes any effort to recall the democratically elected Mayor of the District of Columbia. Any such activities related to a recall actively distracts, disrupts and undercuts the overall democratic process and the Mayor’s ongoing leadership efforts. It also takes away the focus from what Democrats really need to rally behind, that is, to take back the White House, Senate and the House of Representatives in 2004. In order to best serve the people we represent, we must remain committed to this goal. “We regret the involvement of a member of our local Democratic Party in any recall activity at a time when we should be putting forth a unified message. It is also unfortunate that this DCDSC member utilized her title with the Democratic State Committee without the consensus and support of her fellow committee members.” “The DCDSC will actively oppose any recall efforts.” 499 South Capitol Street SW Suite 412 |
