Short TitleAn Initiative to Restrict Privatization and Sale or Lease of DC Public Assets Summary StatementThis initiative, if passed, would prevent any individual, official or organization from turning over full or partial operational responsibility of any District of Columbia government agency or program to the private sector, with or without government oversight, nor sell, gift or grant any real property, or any asset of the District of Columbia with a market value above $500,000, nor lease for over two years any real property or asset of the city except by the passing of an initiative properly registered with the Board of Elections, following rules currently outlined in the D.C. Code as of September 26, 1997. AN INITIATIVE TO PROHIBIT THE PRIVATIZATION OF D.C. GOVERNMENT AGENCIES OR FUNCTIONS, OR TEE SALE OR LONG-TERM LEASE OF PUBLIC ASSETS WITHOUT AN INITIATIVE AUTHORIZING IT. Full Text of InitiativeNo individual, official or organization shall relinquish full or partial operational responsibility of any District of Columbia government agency or program to persons or organizations outside of the District of Columbia government, with or without District of Columbia government supervision, except by the passing of an initiative properly registered with the Board of Elections, following rules currently outlined in the D.C. Code as of September 26 1997. Additionally, no individual, official or organization shall sell, gift nor grant in trust any real property, or any asset of the District of Columbia with a market value above $500,000, nor lease for over two years any real property or asset of the city except by the passing of an initiative properly registered with the Board of Elections, following rules currently outlined in the D C Code as of September 26, 1997. This initiative shall take affect immediately upon succeeding at the ballet. The courts shall find any contracts signed after the filing of this initiative as contemplating of this initiative.
