GOVERNMENT OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA ATTORNEY GENERAL September 2, 2010 Ms. Deborah K. Nichols RE: Audit of Grants Provided and Contracts Entered Into with Peaceoholics Dear Ms. Nichols: This letter follows your August 26, 2010 requests to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), Department of Human Services (DHS), Department of Youth and Rehabilitation Services (DYRS), Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED), Justice Grants Administration (JGA), District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), and the Office of Contracting and Procurement (OCP) (collectively, the agencies), in which you request the production of various documents related to contracts and grants provided to Peaceaholics [sic], Inc. Given the potential privilege issues that may be implicated, the responses are being coordinated through my Office. Due to the short period of time allotted (less than seven days), some of the agencies are still in the process of collecting documents, and OAG attorneys are still conducting a privilege review. We will continue to provide additional documents as they are collected and reviewed on a rolling basis. The enclosed documents are those that have been collected and reviewed to date. Of these documents, none have been withheld for privilege. With regard to DHS's response, it appears that DHS has not entered into any contracts or grants with Peaceaholics [sic], Inc. Therefore, DHS asserts that it has no documents responsive to your request. With regard to OCP's response, all documents from that agency are still under review and will be turned over when that review is completed. I hope the provided documents are useful to you.
