Anthony Williams
Democrat for Mayor
Making D.C. Work for Us
A Leader Who Gets Results
Anthony Williams is leading the fight to energize D.C. government and
reclaim our self-determination.
Appointed D.C.s Chief Financial Officer by Mayor Marion Barry in
1995, Tony Williams took strong action to restore accountability and improve performance.
He attended more than 150 community meetings, listening to District
residents and taking suggestions. Then he put our ideas into action.
Tony Williams led the District to its first balanced budget in years,
producing a $186 million surplus and moving up the timetable for a return to home rule.
And Tony Williams obtained millions of federal dollars available to the
District, but never claimed by city officials.
Now, Tony Williams is running for mayor to revitalize D.C. government
bringing better services to every neighborhood and restoring pride to District
resident.
Tony Williams will work hard to improve District schools and provide a
better future for our children.
And hell stand eye-to-eye with Congress to restore
self-determination for D.C. residents.
The adopted son of postal workers, Tony Williams served four years in the
U.S. Air Force. He worked his way through Yale University and received graduate degrees
from Harvard.
Tony Williams headed city development agencies in St. Louis and Boston. In
1993 he was appointed Chief Financial Officer of the U.S. Department of Agriculture by
President Bill Clinton.
Tony and his wife, Diane, live in Ward 2. They have a daughter, Asantewa
Foster.
