JACK EVANS has made significant advances on
issues that directly affect you.
- Sponsored the 1997 “Presidents Plan” to restore fiscal stability to the
District
- For 2 of the last 4 years has been Chair of the Metro Board of Directors with direct
oversight of 10,000 employees, a $650 million operating annual budget, a $1 billion total
annual budget and hiring 2 general managers
- Has been a strong advocate for economic development projects including the new MCI
Center and the proposed Convention Center
- Worked to defeat the 1993 proposed Gross Receipts Tax and other fiscally irresponsible
legislation
- Played an instrumental role in hiring Chief Charles Ramsey to head the Metropolitan
Police Department
- Currently Co-Chair of the Special Committee on Police Misconduct and Personnel
Management which investigates corruption and mismanagement in the Metropolitan Police
Department
