Reverend Dr. William H. Bennett II

Reverend Bennett is the Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Deanwood and former Director of the Mayor’s Office of Religious Affairs of the District of Columbia. As Director of the Mayor’s Office of Religious Affairs, he worked to build bridges between people of all faiths and break down the barriers of race and denomination.

HE IS A PUBLIC SERVANT

He serves on the Board of the United Planning Organization (UPO), Cable Television Board, has served on the Board of the Homemaker’s Health Aid Services, the Board of Sojourner’s Neighborhood Center and the Board of Directors of the Biblical Institute for Social Change.

HE IS A WITH COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP

He served as the former Chairman of the Economic Development Committee of the Progressive National Baptist Convention and is a member the Missionary Baptist Minister’s Conference of Washington, D.C. and Vicinity and a member of the Washington Metropolitan Ministerium. Reverend Bennett was a founding Co-Chairman of the Washington Interfaith Network (W.I.N.)

  • Give juvenile delinquents an opportunity to become productive citizens through “Grace Jobs” initiative.
  • Encourage and support grassroots, faith-based community youth programs, e.g., “Alliance of Concerned Men” and “W.I.N. After School Programs”
