A PROPOSED RESOLUTION IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

To approve the transfer of site control of District property, described as Lot 848 in Square 374 together with an adjoining parcel described as U.S. Reservation 174 that is held under a transfer of jurisdiction from the United States, the parcels collectively known as the Old Washington Convention Center Property, with a street address of 900 Ninth Street, N.W., Washington, D.C., to the Washington Convention Center Authority.

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, that this resolution may be cited as the "Transfer of Site Control of the Old Washington Convention Center Property to the Washington Convention Center Authority Approval Resolution of 2003.

Sec. 2. (a) Pursuant to section 204 of the Washington Convention Center Authority Act of 1994, authorizing the Washington Convention Center Authority to acquire site control of the old Washington Convention Center upon submission of a resolution to the Council for approval, approved August 2, 1994 (D.C. Law 10-188; D.C. Official Code §10-1202.04(d)), the Mayor transmitted to the Council a request for Council approval of the transfer of site control of Lot 848 in Square 374 together with an adjoining parcel described as U.S. Reservation 174, the parcels collectively known as the Old Washington Convention Center Property, to the Washington Convention Center Authority.

(b) The Council of the District of Columbia, finding that transfer of site control of the Old Washington Convention Center Property to the Washington Convention Center Authority is in the best interests of the District of Columbia and will support the growth and development of the new Washington Convention Center at Mount Vernon Square, hereby approves the transfer of site control of the Old Washington Convention Center Property to the Washington Convention Center Authority, as proposed, for redevelopment as public green space and a parking lot facility for the new Washington Convention Center at Mount Vernon Square.

Sec. 3. (a) Pursuant to section 204 of the Act, the Council approves the transfer of site control of the Old Washington Convention Center Property to the Washington Convention Center Authority, subject to the provisions of the Act.

Sec. 4. The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement transmitted simultaneously with this resolution as the fiscal impact statement required by section 602(c)(3) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved December 24, 1973 (87 Stat. 813, D.C. Official Code 1-206.02(c)(3)).

Sec. 5. The Secretary of the Council of the District of Columbia shall transmit a copy of this Resolution, upon its adoption, to the Mayor of the District of Columbia, the Chief Financial Officer, and the Washington Convention Center Authority.

Sec. 6. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
